Baby
Lifeline was founded in 1981 and is a unique national charity offering loving
care and support to pregnant mothers and newborn babies all over the UK. Even
with today’s advances in medical care more than 8500 babies still die at or
around the time of birth. Baby lifeline raises funds to supply hospitals with
equipment ranging for digital weighing scales to major pieces of technology
such as incubators and scanners. The charity is equally proud of the support it
gives to training and education programmes for doctors, midwifes and other
associated health professionals.

Tommy’s
funds research into pregnancy problems and provides information to parents, we
want to give every baby the best chance of being born healthy. When a pregnancy
fails or a baby dies, the families affected can be devastated and often have a
desperate need to know why. Frustrated by the lack of research that meant they
could rarely answer this question, two obstetricians working in the maternity
unit at St Thomas’s Hospital in London were inspired to start fundraising for
more research into pregnancy problems. |

The
foundation for the study of infant deaths is the UK’s leading baby charity
aiming to prevent unexpected deaths in infancy and promote infant health. FSID
fulfils these aims by funding research; supporting families whose babies have
died suddenly and unexpectedly; disseminating information on infant health,
baby care and sudden infant deaths to health professionals to improve
investigations when a baby dies. |
